WEST TEXAS REGION
Like the ITC, the new facility is intended to be an industrial technology-focused instruction facility with four new programs to the Abilene campus: Diesel Technology, Electrical Lineworker, Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC). In addition to the space requirements for each technical training program inside the new facility, outdoor areas are required for all four programs, with the greatest need for outdoor training space belonging to the Electrical Lineworker program.
SOUTH EAST TEXAS REGION
The groundbreaking for the new building of more than 100,000 square feet is set for Wednesday, November 29. The need for highly skilled technicians in the workforce continues to grow. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Fort Bend County is also one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas and the entire country. The expansion will include a new building of more than 100,000 square feet that will host an expanded Diesel Equipment Technology program, as well as the addition of an Automotive Technology program and an Auto Collision and Management Technology program.

TSTC was allocated funding for three projects through the Capital Construction Assistance (CCAP) Projects under Senate Bill 52 during the 87th Texas Legislative Session in 2021. These buildings will be an approximate 84,000-square-foot technology facility for the Automotive Technology and Diesel Equipment Technology programs. A 7,000-square-foot building for the Electrical Lineworker and Management Technology program. And for renovating the 20PM building, which will house the Biomedical Equipment Technology, Plumbing and Pipefitting Technology, and Wind Energy Technology programs in a 34,000-square-foot space.
EAST TEXAS REGION
The CCAP Diesel Technology Building scope consists of a new 21,720 sq ft Diesel Technology Academic Building on the north end of the TSTC campus in Marshall, TX. The project will be the new home for the Diesel Program, which shares space within the Transportation and Technology Building. This new building will accommodate the current program needs as well as the program’s future growth.

The U.S. Economic Development Administration awarded TSTC a $3.5 million grant for renovating the Electrical Electronics Center and the Technical Studies Center. The buildings will be revamped to house five programs: Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electrical Power and Controls, Instrumentation Technology, Occupational Safety and Environmental Compliance, and Robotics and Industrial Controls.

TSTC’s new Visitors Center in Waco will differentiate TSTC from when visitors walk through the door by engaging visitors with an immersive walk-through experience. The Welcome Center will showcase TSTC’s commitment to technology, training, industry relations, and customer experience.

The WorkSITE: A McLennan County, City of Waco, and TSTC Collaboration
The WorkSITE will allow Wacoans to get the skills needed for the growing job market from Central Texas’ top industry employers. With hands-on, short-term training, residents of Waco can thrive in their careers as we continue to thrive as a community.
This will be in 2025, and it will include over 30,000 sq ft of training labs, meeting space, and classrooms.
