The Tippecanoe School Corporation grading scale will be used in all content areas. It is as follows:

100-90= A

89-80=B

79-70=C

69-60=D

Below 59% will result in a failing grade (F)

If a student earns a C or less on any assignment, he/she may re-do the assignment (with the exception of tests and quizzes) for half credit on the corrections.

There will be a reading grade taken from the Time For Kids magazine. TFK is a nonfiction kid friendly magazine. I will not start taking this as a grade until the second quarter. There will also be a grade given for Accelerated Reader each quarter for comprehension and reading goals. Reading grades will also be given for skill quizzes throughout each unit.

There will be grammar quizzes given after a skill lesson. There will also be grammar grades taken from writing pieces. The grammar and language quizzes will be taken on the same quiz as spelling but given separate grades.

Writing:

Writing grades will be broken up into pieces. There will be a grade for each of the writing components on the rubric. For example, the introduction, conclusion, transition words, etc. will all be their own grade. Grades will also be given for class work that is done throughout each unit in order to learn about the particular writing piece.
