DOL is part of the Language Arts grade, as it covers all writing conventions, including correct punctuation, grammar, and parts of speech.
As a class, we go over 2 DOL sentences each day.Â
They are listed by the week and by the DOL number. For example: A DOL may be listed as 2-3. This means it is week 2 and the 3rd day of the DOL.Â
After we go over 5 days of that week's DOL (example: 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, and 2-5) the students take their corrected sentences home to study, as there will be a quiz the next day.Â
I choose 5 of the 10 sentences that we went over, as a class, that week to be on the quiz. They are the EXACT sentences that we have already gone over.Â
This continues all year. This is NOT a Monday through Friday thing. A quiz may fall on any day of the week. It just depends on where that 6th day lands.Â
Below is a list of the DOL that will be used this year. Each week, 5 quiz sentences will be pulled from the 10 DOL sentences we corrected over the previous 5 days. On the quiz, the students will have to correct the EXACT sentences that we already went over that week.Â
When your student brings home their DOL pages to study, they will have the DOL number and week at the top. It will also be written in their assignment notebook. Â
