1. The student’s grade will be assigned to each subject using the following grading scale:
100% A+ 99-90% A 89-80% B 79-70% C 69-60% D 59% and below F
2. Grades are based on student performance on Indiana State Standards for Third Grade.
3. Grades for Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Health are taken on in-class assessments, projects, and independent classwork. This is how we have an accurate look at what each child knows independently. All grades are weighted equally.
4. Science, Health, and Social Studies will also include class participation, STEM project participation, and assessments/worksheets.
5. You may see graded papers come home with the word “FIX” and then a check mark and a date. This means your child fixed the paper, either independently or with adult help, and I checked and wrote the date this happened. It does NOT change the grade on the paper. I highly recommend going over these papers with your child to help them better understand the concept.
6. Missing work - I give several days and opportunities for students to complete missing work. If we reach a point in time that is several weeks from the original assigned date and the student has not completed the work, a grade of 0% will be given to that assignment. If work is partially finished, I will take a grade on what is completed.
