Students receive a daily PE grade based on how they participate in class and how they contribute to a safe, respectful learning environment.
Students are not graded on how fast they run, how strong they are, or how fit they are compared with someone else. Every student comes to PE with different abilities, experiences, and confidence levels.
What I am looking for is that students:
Participate — Be involved and do the best they can for their ability.
Have a positive attitude — Be willing to try, learn, and keep going when something is challenging.
Show respect — Respect themselves, classmates, Mrs. Rush, and the equipment.
Be responsible — Come prepared to move, follow directions, and make safe choices.
Be a good teammate — Encourage others, cooperate, and help create a positive PE environment.
In PE, success is not about being better than someone else.
I want students to focus on their own effort, choices, learning, and growth.
Throughout the year, I may use skill checks, questions, pre- and post-assessments, or other activities to see what students have learned and what I need to teach next.
These are generally used to guide my instruction, not to grade students on their fitness or athletic ability.
Older students may occasionally complete a project, such as creating their own game, where they can show what they have learned in a different way.
Come ready to move. Try your best. Be respectful. Be responsible. Be a good teammate.
That is what matters most in Mrs. Rush’s PE.
