Verbal praise - Candy - DOJO points - Parent contact - Extra free time - teacher helper - school shout out
Each classroom has a clipboard that will travel with the students throughout the day. Each time a student breaks a rule, they will receive a check on the clipboard. Each check results in the following:
All that being said, there are times when students make poor choices while at school. I will use Class Dojo, an online behavior tracking system, and a five-step scale, to track poor choices and behavior throughout the day. If a student makes a choice that does not meet expectations, such as not staying on-task, talking in the hallway, or being disrespectful, he or she will lose a Dojo point. For each Dojo point lost, a consequence will be given (see below). However, should a student lose a Dojo point throughout the day, he or she has the opportunity to earn that point back by making a smart choice.
Five-step scale:
-1 point: Verbal warning
-2 points: Teacher choice
-3 points: Think Sheet (This will be sent home at the end of the day. Please review it with your child, sign it, and return it the following day.)
-4 points: Parent contact
-5 points: Office referral
(Any successive offense treated like a fifth offense.)
Class Dojo is an online classroom management system. Each day, students will have opportunities to earn or lose DOJO points based on their behavior. Parents can connect through the website (https://www.classdojo.com/) or the class DOJO app to see how your child is doing.
