When a student is absent, I will have a "Folder" made for them with any work they need to complete. If a student is absent or has a valid excuse as to why assignments are not completed on time I will allow students to make up the work. Some activities and learning experiences cannot be easily replicated at home. Typically, students will be given the same number of days that they missed school to complete the missed assignments. Please notify the school before lunch if you plan to pick up assignments before the end of the day to ensure that materials are ready to go.
If a student misses a test, I expect them to take it the following day. There are a few exceptions to this rule. If you know your child will be missing school, it is very beneficial for students to take tests early instead of taking it after a break. The other exception is if the student has been gone for long enough that they have not learned the content to take the test. In this case, the student will spend time with me learning the missed work before they take the test.
Extended Absence: I will do the best I can to accommodate an extended absence, but cannot guarantee all work will be given ahead of time. The student will be expected to make up that work when they return.
