School Information

Transportation

Your child’s safety is important to me!  Please make sure I know how your child is getting home everyday, especially if it will be different than the first few days of school.

  Cars will enter from Old US 231 South onto the MHS/MME Access Road.  Cars will proceed south and turn left into our west parking lot.  Cars will turn right and hug the sidewalk along the west side of the building.  Cars will wait at the southwest corner until car riders begins.  Cars will turn left and stay on the left side of the road.  (Driver side to the sidewalk) After students are dropped off or picked up, cars will pull forward and turn around.  To exit the MME parking lot, cars may turn left to access 500 South or turn right to return to Old US 231 South at the Stop sign.  The same procedure will be followed for arrival and dismissal.  

If you are transporting your child to school, following the car rider procedure is critical for student safety.  Drivers should remain in the vehicle.  

Car riders may enter the building starting at 8:45 and at the end of the day, car riders are dismissed at 3:25 and students line up inside the building to wait for their rides.  You will need to post the car rider information sheet that has your child’s name on it that will be provided for you or you can receive in the office.  It is best to post it on the passenger visor so it is easily seen.  Staff will go down the line and call your child to a colored flag.  You will pull forward in line to the next empty flag spot to wait for your child.  Staff will be there to assist your child into their car.  Please do not get out of your car!

If you need to change the way your child is going home, please contact the office, not me, before 3:00 in order for them to get to the correct spot.  

School Hours and Attendance

School starts at 8:50 each day.  Students are expected to be in their classrooms at this time.  If your child eats breakfast at school, they will eat in the classroom. School ends at 3:30.  Car Riders are dismissed at 3:20 and bus riders by 3:30. 

 If your child is going to be absent you must call the office and let them know.  Attendance is important for your child’s success so please make school a priority!

Breakfast and Lunch

In order for your child to get breakfast in the morning, they must order it the day before.  Breakfast is served from 8:50-9:10.  If your child is not in class by this time, they will not receive breakfast.

Lunch is from 12:40-1:05. Your child may choose to bring their lunch to school.  Please make sure they have a healthy lunch.  If your child orders a school lunch, they will have a choice between a sandwich or a hot lunch option.  They will choose this in the classroom each morning. 

The student breakfast price is $1.40 and lunch is $2.40.

Recess is from 1:05-1:30 and will be outside or indoors according to the weather.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the changing weather each day.  They also need shoes that can navigate the play equipment.  

Snack

Your child is allowed to bring a snack each day and eat it when they are hungry.  I will not allow them to snack all day long, so only 1 snack per day is needed.  Your child needs to bring a water bottle each day.  Please make sure it has a lid.  Your child will bring it home each day to be cleaned and refilled.  Only water is allowed, no juice or water flavoring.  This keeps our room clean when there are spills.
