I believe that homework is helpful for students to practice the concepts that we learn in class. Homework is not busy work and will be graded on completion. If your child does not have their homework complete by Friday, they will have the weekend to complete it and turn it in Monday or they will spend lunch recess working on it.
Your child will have weekly spelling, reading, and math homework. No homework on weekends. I highly encourage your child to read nightly, on weekends, and over breaks.
Our weekly spelling and reading tests will be on Fridays. Math, social studies, and science tests will be given at the end of study units.
Homework Policy
If homework is not completed on time, your child will have to complete it the next week during lunch recess in order to catch up. Parents will be contacted if late homework is happening frequently.
Friday Folders
Your child will bring home their Friday Folder every Monday. These folders will have their homework assignments for the week, weekly newsletter, and graded assignments from the previous week. There will also be a paper for parents to sign weekly stating that they have seen their child's work. Friday Folders are to be returned on Fridays with completed homework and any corrected tests inside.
Class Work/ Grading Policy
Students will receive a Letter Grade in the categories of Reading, Writing, Spelling, Math, and Science/ Social Studies. Class Work will be completed at school and may include individual/group work, and/or tests and quizzes.
