A new favorite book is Extra Yarn, written by Mac Barnett. This book is shows how someone's kindness and generosity affected others.
I recently stumbled across Skin Again, written by Bell Hooks, and it is a wonderful easy reader about going deeper than skin deep. We need to see who they are on the inside, so that we can be able to appreciate them. A must read!

Conflicts tend to happen out on the playground. When they do occur, engaging in restorative practices help both the person being harmed as well as the person doing the harmful behaviors.
Through the usage of restorative questions, students on both sides (offender and student harmed) reflect and hold themselves accountable for their actions and come up with plans to repair harm. Together, the offender and student harmed discuss the situation, practice perspective taking, be aware of their thoughts and feelings, and problem solve in safe and respectful ways.
