Read for yourself, not just the assignment. #readlikeyourfav
This assignment is for 2025-2026 non-AP students. Those who are taking either AP Lang or AP Lit: please choose from the above menu for your assignment.
THS requires you to read at least two books in the summer, but you can read as many books as you like.
Upon returning to school, you will share your books with your classmates in English class. You might give a brief overview, share your reactions, and make recommendations to your classmates. It is always a great day in English class and will be a fantastic chance to make a list for further reading.
NEHS Common Readers: Submissions related to Cruz’s How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water will be available for both NEHS Juniors and Seniors during the Fall Awards Cycle, while essays on Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library will be submitted only by NEHS Seniors during the Winter Awards Cycle.
Note: the YA indicates “Young Adult”
So, have a great summer and read great books.
Read for yourself, not just for the assignment.
We look forward to hearing about your reading experiences in September!
