The Troy Jazz Band is open to any 7th, or 8th grade band member. Rehearsals are after school on Mondays from 2:30 to 3:30 in the TMS Band Room. Students can be picked up in front of TMS at 3:30 or they can stay with us in the band room and then ride the activity bus home at 4:00. Any students not picked up by 4:00 will be sent home on the activity bus.
All instruments are welcome, but we’d especially like the “jazz instruments” to consider joining. “Jazz instruments” include saxophone, trumpet / cornet, trombone, piano, bass guitar, and drum set.
The "try-out" will be conducted during rehearsals and will evaluate various factors, including effort demonstrated during rehearsals, personal responsibility in contributing positively to the ensemble, and progress shown from one rehearsal to the next.
Any student who causes disruption during band rehearsals or events, or fails to fulfill their regular band responsibilities, may be subject to dismissal from the Jazz Band.
Students who want to participate in jazz band should have their parents contact Mr. Goetz on ParentSquare or email.
