In winter all IB Cohorts collaborate on a full CAS immersive day - completing creative service learning projects and ice skating.
IB students at LHS travel to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta to engage with works that deepen their understanding of visual expression and critical thinking. For students in the IB Visual Arts course, the museum offers a chance to analyze technique, intention, and cultural context in professional works, inspiring their own creative processes. Simultaneously, Theory of Knowledge (TOK) students use the experience to explore essential questions about how we interpret and assign meaning to art.
This interdisciplinary field study encourages students to think like artists, philosophers, and global citizens—making connections across subjects while developing key IB Learner Profile traits such as thinkers, inquirers, and open-minded learners.
As part of their IB studies, the senior cohort at LHS visits the Georgia Aquarium to participate in a hands-on ecology workshop. During this immersive experience, students explore the behind-the-scenes biological systems that sustain the aquarium’s diverse exhibits. From water quality and habitat design to animal care and conservation efforts, students gain a deeper understanding of the complex ecological principles that support marine life and environmental stewardship.
