Check out what Montana State has to offer:
At Montana State, we believe college is an investment in a student’s future. We work hard to remove financial barriers through a wide range of financial assistance programs and resources.
Scholarships:
Montana State offers many undergraduate scholarships to incoming freshmen to help reduce the cost of attendance. To be eligible for scholarships, students must submit their application for admission and self-reported high school GPA.
Achievement Awards: Incoming freshmen are automatically considered for this merit-based scholarship that is renewable for four years. For the latest award values, please visit our resident scholarship website.
Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE): One of our most competitive scholarships, WUE reduces nonresident tuition to 150% of Montana’s in-state tuition rate. WUE is not awarded automatically at MSU. To apply, students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and be from an eligible Western state. The application can be accessed through our Cat $cholarships platform and will be due the first week of January.
Presidential Scholarship: This prestigious award provided by MSU's Honors College includes a full tuition waiver and housing stipend. Applicants must submit their application, including counselor verification, letters of recommendation, and personal essays, by December 5, 2025. The Presidential Scholarship application doubles as a student’s application to the Honors College.
Departmental Scholarships: Every year, students apply for department-specific scholarships by submitting the Cat $cholarships application. The Cat $cholarships application opens on November 1 and has a priority deadline of February 1, though amounts and deadlines vary by department.
Outside Scholarships: MSU recognizes third-party scholarships, such as those received through local rotary clubs, local businesses, or online scholarship portals. Any and all third-party scholarships should be reported to MSU by the start of each semester.
Financial Assistance:
Encourage students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1st for priority consideration for need-based aid programs including low interest loans, grants, and work study. FAFSA is not required at MSU but strongly recommended.
Explore the many ways MSU supports students financially on our Financial Roadmap website.
Student Employment:
Many students choose on-campus employment opportunities that help them to pay for college while still leaving time for classes, homework, and campus engagement. Jobs and internships, both on and off campus, can be found through Career, Internship and Student Employment Services.
We hope this information helps you guide your students as they explore the financial resources available at MSU.
Update from Missouri State University
Applying for Admission
Priority application date — December 1, 2025: Students should apply for admission and submit their FAFSA by December 1, 2025, for maximum consideration for Missouri State scholarships, as well as state and federal programs. Students who are admitted with a completed FAFSA submitted by December 1 will receive their scholarship and financial aid offer before winter break.
Final application date — February 1, 2026: Students who apply for admission and submit their FAFSA by February 1 will be reviewed for scholarships and all state and federal programs and receive their financial package by March 1, 2026.
Students who apply after February 1, 2026 will be reviewed for admission, scholarships, and aid programs as funds and space allow. Students will be notified of admission, aid and awards on a rolling basis.
As our commitment to access and opportunity has always driven our strategy of supporting all students in attaining a college degree, our focus remains on awarding our scholarships and other institutional aid to provide the greatest amount of support to the greatest number of students. To achieve this, we are doing more holistic reviews for individualized admission and scholarship awards decisions for incoming students.
To guide your students for maximum awards, please make sure they have completed their application and FAFSA submission by December 1, 2025.
The award process for the Presidential Scholarship and the Hutchens/SGA Centennial Leaders Scholarship remains the same for this year.
The Mo State Access Award: Missouri students whose families make $65,000 or less per year (adjusted gross income), file the FAFSA by February 1, 2026 and qualify for the Federal Pell Grant will pay zero out of pocket for tuition and fees. This timeline will remain in place for this cycle.

The Lebanon Education Center, we have the full A.A.S., 2-year degrees in the following areas:
Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) – This degree trains students to work in the power distribution industry maintaining and building the electrical power grid.
The EDS program is a full A.A.S 2-year program located in Lebanon, Mo and Nixa, MO.
The EDS degree is a selective admissions program so students interested in this field will need to do some extra things after applying to OTC to earn a spot in the fall class. Attached is our current application packet for the EDS program and you are most welcome to share this with any students you may advise that are interested in our program. We accept applications from January 1st to May 28th for the program and there will be open tour dates this spring. If you have a student interested in the EDS program, please have them email us their name, phone number, and an email address they check fairly often to EDS@otc.edu so we can get them on the contact list and keep them current on any updates.
Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-conditioning (HRA) – This degree trains students to install and repair both residential and commercial HVAC systems.
Mechatronics (MEC) – This was formerly known as Industrial Systems Technologies and is the degree where students will learn how to fix equipment with training on electricity, controls, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical power transmission, and robotics.
