Seniors are allowed two excused absences to visit colleges and technical schools or take military placement tests. I recommend that you visit at least two colleges to make a comparison.
College visits may also be used to visit the financial aid office to work on FAFSA details or to enroll in courses in the spring.
You must submit your college visit form to the high school office one week before your absence. Upon returning to school after your college visit, you must turn in a document from your visit to the high school office to verify your excused absence.
Places to make an appointment to visit during your college visit:
*Academic Advisor - If you have taken dual credit courses, ask how/when to transfer that coursework.
*Campus Tour - Dorms, student life/recreation center, dining halls, library, etc.
*Financial AId Department - If you have FAFSA or institutional scholarship questions, ask for an appointment with an advisor.
*Admissions office - Find out if a specific admissions test is required. Do you need to take it on their campus or ours?
*Coaches - If you plan on playing collegiate-level sports, you will want to meet with the coach during your visit.
