Most Spanish work is done in class, however, on days when students do not complete classwork, they will finish the assignment at home as homework. This will teach them skills that they will need in high school. Look for quizzes on Fridays.
mayo-junio
Hola, Bienvenido a la Clase de Espanol.
In mayo-junio we will continue to learn new concepts of Spanish grammar and conversation. Memorization is essential when learning a new language and weekly quizzes keep students on their toes. We have digressed from our textbook Expresate and are currently in a workbook Skills for Success which concentrates on Spanish grammar, writing and speaking. Students will turn in their workbooks each day for grading. They will also have vocabulary tests each week.
My goal is to end the year with the students being introduced to the preterite (past) tense and command forms for -ar, -er, and -ir verbs, including irregular verbs.
Students will occasionally use Duolingo. This computer program uses Spanish-speaking teachers to teach grammar and conversation. The students love this program and are very successful.
To celebrate student accomplishments, we will have class times during the month when we play Spanish Bingo.
As I look back on our year together, I am very proud of their accomplishments. For the students who are graduating, I know that they will be placed in accelerated Spanish classes in high school, and I look forward to working with the soon to be 8th graders next year. Vaya con Dios!
