Hola, Amigos ye Amigas,
I am Sancho, a small burro puppet who occasionally appears in Senora Hindenach's class.
We will begin our new school year with a general review of numbers, colors, greetings, calendar, and weather etc.
This year 1st and 2nd graders will keep all Spanish work in a binder. We will continue to learn conversation, sing songs, and play games.
We will begin to learn some Spanish culture by studying the country of Spain.
Gracias y Vaya con Dios!,
Sancho and Senora Hindenach
mayo-junio
Hola, Bienvenido a la Clase de Espanol.
Hello, welcome to our Spanish classroom. In mayo/junio, Los estudiantes (the students) will finish their Spanish workbooks. We will end the year with the story (Spanish and English) of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Each day a student is chosen to be the teacher- "Maestra" or "Maestro" and lead the class in calendar and weather review. Spanish -"Cual es the fecha?" - What is the date? and "Que tiempo hace?" what is the weather?
Que tiempo hace hoy dia? (What is the weather today?) Hace calor (It's warm), Hace frio (It's cold), Hace lluvia (It's raining), Hace sol (It's sunny), Hace viento (It's windy), Hace nieve (It's snowing).
The students continue to practice greeting each other. Hola, como se llama? Me llamo ____________. Como esta? Estoy bien, gracias, y usted? (Hi what is your name? My name is_____________. How are you? I'm fine thank you, and you?)
They have also learned the names of all the months in Spanish. Quite an accomplishment. They can also count by 2's, 3's,4's, 5's, and 10's in Spanish.
The students have learned several Spanish songs and enjoy singing. Their favorite: Cristo me ama. (Jesus loves me)
Sancho, a burro puppet will be visiting from time to time and helping me teach concepts. Fiesta Fridays are celebrated with Spanish Bingo and occasionally a Spanish DVD.
As I look back on the year, I am proud the students and all their accomplishments. I look forward to teaching them next year. Vaya con Dios!
