Workday - Student is the name of the product Trinity purchased. Workday replaces Colleague…and what many interact with as TigerPaws, Colleague UI, and Self-Service.
Think of the Student Information System (or SIS) as a neighborhood most of us will enter by logging into Workday. Each house interacts with Workday to help deliver a more integrated experience.
Workday is the hub of the SIS, and the official source for student records. There are several systems, e.g., PowerFAIDS, Slate, Modern Campus, and UAchieve that work together to create the overall SIS.
Project team members are trained on an ongoing basis as they continue implementation and knowledge transfer.
Outside of the project team and Readiness Collective members, the majority of faculty, staff, and students will be trained beginning February 2025. Details are listed on the homepage. Training opportunities will be ongoing.
The training approach is focused on your role rather than only offering general training sessions. For example, a session will be specifically on faculty advising or managing waitlists and registration. This helps ensure we maximize people's time by providing relevant, "just in time" training that aligns with when activities are performed.
Training for Workday will occur across multiple delivery methods, providing students, faculty, and staff with the knowledge needed to navigate and use the system to accomplish tasks and access information. In-person, virtual training, and on-demand options will be offered as appropriate, with support materials available to reinforce the training courses.
Prior Workday products did not have that Trinity community look and feel. They have felt a little bit difficult to use and manage over time. And I think we've already seen changes in the right direction, with the new help tool and the ticketing system.
This student information system has been planned and implemented over the last 2 years by many groups and teams and people at Trinity who live the Trinity Mission every single day. And so when we have this workday product come out to us in March.
No one is promising, it's going to be perfect. But I think when you look at it, you'll see how much more intuitive it is to use, and all the increased features and options that faculty have for managing their courses and their wait lists and getting rosters and seeing student pronunciations.
The majority of campus will engage with Workday Student in March 2025. Why March 2025?
This Go Live date ensures that we launch in time for registration and enrollment. Stated differently, in March 2025, Workday becomes Trinity's system of record for student records.
What else should you expect? Perhaps the most frequent question relates to training and support. You will see a shift from general training to role based training so you can attend sessions that are meaningful to your work. We will also provide several methods for accessing training and support - one of which is the Workday Help Center that launched May 2024.
Our team benefited from reflecting on lessons learned from the initial Workday HCM implementation and the success of the Canvas rollout. Those lessons learned translated into action items.

Incoming students are technology natives, and we must transform our students’ technology experiences into ones that are seamless, personalized, and user-friendly.
We must bring our core systems up-to-date; have the ability to make data-driven and transparent decisions; and enhance security.
