During the month of November, each subject will dedicate a lesson / activity to careers for each year group. This could include:
A starter/plenary
A lesson focussed on transferrable skills eg. communication, team work, resilience, digital skills
A focus on interview skills/techniques or understanding a job advert
Research for next steps within the subject using Unifrog
A guest speaker
A study of different job roles

Guest speakers - Oliver Jeffers Illustrator Talk, Finance developer in SE Asia, Enterprise Security Architect for The Financial Conduct Authority, Course Leader for BA (Hons) Theatre from Portsmouth University, Gothic Author Visit, Ian Taplin, Talk from the local Lib Dem candidate
Activities - Portfolio workshops, Who am I cards, Direct discussions about future careers and pathways, Creative practice using specific movies/books, Introduction to mock trials, consideration of transferable skills, using Maths in a variety of job roles, understanding skills in hospitality
Trips - Arla food factory, Pinewood Studios
Wider Reading/Watching - super curriculum task involving careers videos put together by HOP (Hertfordshire Opportunities Portal)
The month was well received by our students, see below for some of their feedback:
'We got to see lots of careers that we might be interested in on 'Unifrog'
'We made our own Courtroom and acted out a case. It was fun and I was the defence lawyer'

(It was Film Studies) 'I really like the talk from the lady currently working in the film industry, it helped to see how I can get into it and what sort of things an Assistant Producer does & I enjoyed visiting Pinewood and talking to industry professionals' :)
