One to One Initiative Philosophy and Goal
Educators, students, and parents generally agree that learning occurs most effectively when students are presented with a variety of learning options. In our school district, opportunities for creativity, higher-level problem solving, and hands-on experience needs to occur. We believe that technology may be one of the best learning tools available to meet these needs. Our experience proves that, when handled properly, the computer can be an effective catalyst and tool for learning in the classroom and at home. We believe our 1:1 initiative is the next step toward preparing our students for today's technological workforce.
Our first priority is to train our teaching staff to utilize the same tools we are making available to students. Through a generous donation, and district provided funding, we deployed 30 staff chromebooks in 2016. We are continuing to develop teaching staff skills to better serve our students technological needs
Technology is a tool which, when used properly, will enhance learning in ways that could not be imagined a few years ago. Tri-Village’s faculty understand that all people want to learn and that it is our nature to explore and experiment. Through the proper use of technology, our school will be able to provide new avenues of discovery for students and teachers at both home and school.
Faculty members and students must model behavior that encourages all members of the school community to explore and utilize every possible resource for the implementation of technology in the classroom and as a learning tool from home. The faculty chromebook program will give the faculty a solid base on which to build their bridge for learning with technology. Changes in curriculum and instruction methods should be made continually to enhance learning through technology and to develop students’ critical thinking skills.
