To connect learning in subjects like History, Geography and Art, practical aspects, creativity and life skills development in order to enhance student motivation and achievements.
The students's proposals are meant to enhance art, encourage exploration and increase motivation for cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible.
The projects will prove how the intersection of Humanities, Arts and Sciences / STEAM can cotribute to achieving some of the 17 Global Goals.
Grade 4 students study about our city and local history and geography. They prepared 3D projects about important touristic objectives and a short description. Their work was presented in the ISA Joint Project on 21st of April - Creativity and Innovation Day:
PBL (Project-Based Learning) projects that blend art and history are extremely effective, as they transform abstract data into memorable sensory and visual experiences for students.
Project Concept This project proposes an interdisciplinary approach where History provides the context and the "story," while Art becomes the tool for exploration and expression. Our goal is not just to memorize dates and events, but to understand the spirit of each era through the way people chose to represent their world.
Learning by Doing The project emphasizes a "learning by doing" methodology. For each historical period studied, the process follows three essential steps:
Research: Identifying the historical context and the societal needs that gave birth to a specific artistic style.
Technical Analysis: Deciphering how artists of that era utilized line, color, space, and materials.
Creation: Students create their own works by applying specific techniques (e.g., modeling, layered painting, architectural sketching), thus managing to "live" history rather than just reading about it.
Final Objective By the end of this project, students will not only acquire theoretical knowledge but will also develop critical thinking and historical empathy. They will come to understand that art is not merely about aesthetics; it is the most honest record of human evolution.
Tăsu Service-Learhing project is a perfect example of how volunteering into a national project activities, supporting a huge cultural heritage related initiative connects all the knowledge and compenencies developed in school and puts it all into the aim of serving achieving the 17 Sustainability Global Goals.
