Leah was born and raised in De Queen. She graduated from De Queen High School in 2002. She attended Evangel University in Springfield, MO and graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice.
While working at a local homeless shelter in Springfield, she contemplated her next step and while working with the residents of the shelter, she decided she wanted to get her counseling degree. This led her to attend Forest Institute of Professional Psychology and she graduated with her M.A. in Counseling Psychology in 2010.
Leah completed her graduate level internship at Southwest Arkansas Counseling and Mental Health Center in Nashville in 2010. She obtained her provisional license through the Arkansas Psychology Board in 2009 while she completed the requirements to become provisionally licensed through the Counseling Board. She obtained her provisional license as an Associate Counselor in 2010. Upon completion of her clinical and supervision hours in 2015, she became independently licensed as a Professional Counselor.
In 2020, Leah completed a board required training in order to offer Telehealth services and specialize in Technology Assisted Therapy. In 2022, she applied for and was approved for a reciprocal license as a Professional Counselor in Texas.
Leah is trained in the following therapeutic protocols: Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training, and Animal Assisted Therapy coming soon.
