William Shakespeare was a renowned English poet, playwright, and actor during the Elizabethan period & the Jacobean period. He was believed to have been born on the 23rd of April, 1564, in Stratford-upon-Avon, however, his original date of birth is still a mystery. He was an important writer at the time, creating many famous and significant plays. He also wrote poetry and had a share in the Globe Theatre.
Shakespeare's parents were John & Mary Shakespeare, with John being a well-known glove maker. Shakespeare was one of eight children, being only the third born. However, his two older sisters died at a young age, so Shakespeare became the eldest of the family. He later married Anne Hathaway on the 27th of November, 1582, having their first daughter Susanna in 1583. They later had twins in 1585, Judith and Hamnet, with Hamnet dying at the age of 11.
Shakespeare moved to London in 1592, joining the Lord Chamberlain's Men, and becoming a playwright and actor. Shakespeare in this time started to create many of his poems and sonnets, which became very popular around the world. He stayed with the Lord Chamberlain’s men throughout his life, but the group was changed to The King's Men when James 1st came to power. During that time, he wrote some of his most famous plays. His plays were usually seen at the Globe Theatre, which the Lord Chamberlain’s Men owned. He would often write around 2 plays a year, with other writers showing their plays there too.
Shakespeare died on the 23rd of April, 1616, with no logical reason for his death. It is believed that he was murdered or became greatly ill, but no evidence supports anyone theory.
