How to Implement

• Print out this course so that each page is printed on a different color paper (if you are doing a longer course you can double up on colors).
• Use the Start page and the End page. You can use as little as three and as many as eight of the “in-between” pages. Mix them up, especially if you are using it for more than one team of girls. You can number the in-between pages or you can let the girls get to each page in any order.
• Tape the pages you have decided to use onto the floor.
• Have girls work in groups of three or four and choose roles, prompting them throughout to switch roles so that everyone gets a chance to participate at different levels.
• Explain that they will be completing a color challenge course that they will need to code a solution for Sphero.
• Rules:
  • Sphero must begin the course on the Start page.
  • Sphero must come to a complete stop on each page before going to the next page (unless noted).
  • Sphero must change its color to match the page (as close as possible).
  • Sphero must be programmed to complete the challenge on the page before moving onto the next stop.
  • Sphero must finish the course on the End page.
  • All of this must be done in code (no driving).
• Testing & Debugging: As they are moving through the course, the girls will need to continually test out their program and make changes until Sphero successfully completes the challenge.
