Toyo University Ushiku Junior and Senior High School has been designated as a Super Science High School (SSH) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
Our research theme is "Development of an Integrated 'Convergence of Knowledge × Data Science' Program Based on Philosophical Thinking."
Placing "Philosophy"—a core tradition of Toyo University—at the center of our education, we implement "Philosophical Thinking" school-wide to hone students' ability to formulate fundamental questions. By combining this foundation with cutting-edge "Data Science," students acquire objective verification skills utilizing ICT and AI.
Furthermore, through resolving local issues and engaging in global outreach, we cultivate individuals equipped with "Convergence of Knowledge" (interdisciplinary wisdom) who can transcend the boundaries between arts and sciences to shape the future.
Here begins a new journey of learning that creates innovative value through the dialogue between science and philosophy.
Development of an Integrated "Convergence of Knowledge × Data Science" Program Based on Philosophical Thinking
Centered on Toyo University's concept of "Convergence of Knowledge," we are implementing an interdisciplinary program that fuses the "Philosophy Thinking" method proposed by Koji Yoshida with the practical application of data and AI. This initiative aims to cultivate students' ability to formulate essential questions alongside their scientific problem-solving skills.
Through this approach, we foster the ability to deeply decipher themes in the humanities and social sciences from a scientific perspective. Ultimately, we nurture individuals who will pioneer the future by tackling challenges that range from a local to global scale.
