Proceedings of the International Symposium Organized in December, 2024, by ACRI

The year 2024 marks the 120th anniversary of the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War—a conflict that shaped global history and foreshadowed the great wars of the 20th century. The reverberations of Japan's narrow victory in 1905 spread across borders and cultures, inspiring those under Western imperial domination with the possibility of independence. This transformative moment was amplified by mass media, which not only documented the war through written accounts but also disseminated powerful visual imagery through etchings, caricatures, and black-and-white photographs, shaping public perception worldwide.

This book is the result of the international symposium "The Echoes of the Narrow Victory over the Russo-Japanese War" organized on December 7, 2024, at Toyo University. It explores the war's profond influences on three distint Muslim communities, examining how the conflict resonated beyond the battlefield and left a lasting imprint on global history.

昨年12月開催の国際シンポジウムの要旨集を刊行

　国際シンポジウム「日露戦争"辛勝"の残響」における、日露戦争がインド、ペルシャ、トルコのムスリムコミュニティーにもたらした影響に関する発表の要旨に加え、関連するコラムを収録した冊子を、東洋大学アジア文化研究所の研究叢書として刊行いたしました。

　本書は、東洋大学アジア文化研究所2024年度研究プロジェクト：日露戦争開戦120周年記念「20世紀アジア激動の発端」、人間文化研究機構グローバル地域研究推進事業グローバル地中海地域研究東洋大学アジア文化研究所拠点の研究成果の一部です。
