Proceedings of the International Symposium Organized in December, 2023, by ACRI, 1/3

Over the past 100 years, mutual understanding between Japan and Turkey has significantly deepened. Nevertheless, persistent misunderstandings endure on both sides. These misperceptions and misunderstandings are predominantly fueled by the power of influential “images” and “representations” of each other’s countries found in various cultural expressions such as art, architecture, literature, and music. 

This book presents the culmination of the presentation and discussion from the first day of the international symposium "The Formation of the Relationship between Modern Japan and the Islamic World" organized on December 9, 2023, at TOYO University, which explored the Modern Japanese images concerning Turkey from various perspectives.

昨年12月開催の国際シンポジウムの要旨集を刊行　1/3

　国際シンポジウム「近代日本とイスラーム世界の関係性の構築」の１日目における、近代日本におけるトルコの表象およびイメージに関する発表の要旨を収録した冊子を、東洋大学アジア文化研究所の研究叢書として刊行いたしました。

　本書は、東洋大学アジア文化研究所特別措置予算「トルコ建国100周年記念：日本゠トルコ関係の回顧と検証」、人間文化研究機構グローバル地域研究推進事業東洋大学アジア文化研究所グローバル地中海地域研究拠点、科学研究費助成事業基盤研究(B)「大日本回教協会旧蔵写真資料の国際共同研究：画像資料の実態解明とアーカイブ構築」（研究課題：19H04369）の研究成果の一部です。
