Q1. What is the standard period of study?
A1. 2 years for the Master's programs, and 3 years for the Doctoral program.
Q2. Can I take a leave of absence?
A2. For courses that use the semester system, it is possible to take a leave of absence every six months.
The fee for a leave of absence is 10,000 yen per half year. For courses that do not use the semester system, the leave of absence shall be in one-year units, and the fee is 20,000 yen per year. During the leave of absence, since students can use the library and other on-campus facilities, they will be able to continue their research at their own pace.
Q3: Can I use the scholarship to pay for my tuition after enrollment?
A3. Toyo University introduces various scholarships, but the application and procedures will begin after enrollment when details will be explained at orientation.
Q4. I would like to hear more about how you conduct classes and research studies.
A4. Details will be explained at the Graduate School Counseling Fair (held twice a year) so please attend or e-mail the faculty member of your choice.
For faculty members' e-mail addresses, please check the university website or contact the Education Affairs Section for Graduate Schools.
A5. Many students are enrolled from a variety of fields.
We believe that such applicants are the ones who apply with a clear objective in mind. It is a common case for working adults to enter graduate school in a completely different field from that of their undergraduate days. In our graduate school, we have a curriculum that takes into consideration students from different fields, and the small class size ensures that students will not be isolated in a large classroom without understanding the content of the classes.
A6. Please check the university's admissions guidelines.
https://www.toyo.ac.jp/academics/gadmissions/
If you do not meet the eligibility requirements, you will be required to go through a pre-screening process.
Please be sure to check the details before preparation.
A7. "Persons who have completed a 16-year education program in a foreign country, or who are expected to do so " is one of the factors of application eligibility. If you have completed less than 16 years, you are not eligible to apply.
However, applicants who have not completed 16 years of study may still be eligible to apply for pre-screening for eligibility. Applicants who have experience (work experience, experience as a trainee at another university, etc.) that compensates for the lack of education may be accepted for the preliminary screening.
