Come join Chittenden's Ash Tree Team! (Sep 28, 2026, 11:30 to 3:30 PM)
The bad news: The invasive emerald ash borer has arrived, and it's attacking ash trees in Chittenden and across the state. Dying trees can fall on roads, power lines, cars, and even people.
The good news: We can get ahead of the hazards by mapping and inventorying ash trees along our town roads. And it's a fun, easy job to do!
This fall, volunteers will walk our town roads and map the ash trees they find.
We'll provide the training and iPads.
You pick a time that works for you, put on your sneakers, and take a walk.
The info you gather will help the Town manage dead and dying trees before they cause problems for all of us.
No tree or tech expertise required. No big time commitment, either.
Volunteer for 2 hours or 20, or anything in between.
You'll learn to identify trees and pests, get outside in the fall, and make a big difference.
