    • Capacity - Have some water play with your child, transfer water from different types of containers will something tall and skinny hold the same amount as something short and fat?

    • Record the weather every day, if possible record the temperature, has it gone up or down? By how much?

    • Time - learn to read the different clocks in your house, learn what 1 minute is….do a number of 1 minute challenges e.g. how many hops can you do in 1 minute? How many push ups can you do in 1 minute? Record it and redo these challenges, noting any changes.

    • Play board games, Snakes and Ladders, Monopoly, Cluedo, dominoes etc.

    • Different ways of using a deck of cards - snap, memory match, making 10, pick two cards and add them together, create a 2 or 3 digit number, order the cards from smallest to biggest, pick a card then say the number before/after

    • Fractions: share packets of things into equal groups, changing how many people to share with.

Maths - What are we teaching your child at school?

Below are the goals (bubble pictures) we are working on in class, with the aim being the children are working at Stage 4 by the end of year 2. Choose a goal, practice and make games up that can help your child learn each one e.g. count forwards from any number to 100.
