Native American Education Program
Title VI of Every Student Succeeds Act
As part of Title VI, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA Federal Law) as amended by Title VI addresses the "unique educational and culturally-related academic needs," through formula grants to eligible Local Education Agencies (LEA). The Office of Indian Education (OIE) administers the Indian Education Program grants. Tooele County School District receives federal funds to support educational and culturally-related activities and events to meet our Title VI Objectives. (For more information on Title VI, click here)
Title VI Objectives:
Provide Monthly Cultural Nights to promote family and community togetherness activities to learn of Native American customs, crafts, and music.
Recognize and honor students who are excelling and making academic achievement.
Monitoring high school students and assist in meeting graduation requirements.
Provide information on availability of scholarships and financial aid.
Eligibility - ED506
An ED506 Eligibility Form needs to be completed for a student to acknowledge American Indian descendancy. This form needs to be filled out only once; it will then stay with the student's school records within the Title VI Department at Student Services. The number of forms determines the funds the district is eligible to receive every school year.
