FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA is a form that assesses the need for grants, federal student loans as well as work study funds. It assesses such needs by collecting personal and financial information from students and their parents.
Any student who wants to borrow federal student loans to pay for college should fill out the FAFSA. It is encouraged that all students attending college complete this process.
Each student and a minimum of one parent will need a FSA ID in order to complete the FAFSA process. It is encouraged that student(s) and parent(s) create their FSA IDs early so that it does not slow down the overall process.
Students and Parents/Guardians are encouraged to reach out to the financial aid advisor(s) at the specific institution that they plan on attending with any specific questions.
KASFAA is hosting drop-in sessions via Zoom to assist students and parents/guardians with the FAFSA.
