Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators

Praxis® Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) exam is designed to provide comprehensive assessments that measure the skills and content knowledge of candidates entering teacher preparation programs.

*If you don't hold a 3.0 GPA as an exemption to the Praxis Core, we strongly suggest taking the ACT, SAT or GRE in place of the Praxis Core. Learn more about these exams on the Praxis Core Exemptions tab.

There are three components to this exam; all three will need passing scores to meet the requirement.

  • Core Academics Skills for Educators: Reading: 5713

  • Core Academics Skills for Educators: Writing: 5723

  • Core Academics Skills for Educators: Mathematics: 5733

You may take tests individually, but we strongly recommend taking all three at the same time by selecting Core Academic Skills for Educators Combined Test (5752) when registering. This will shorten your overall testing timeline. Residents that do not receive qualifying score on all sections can schedule a retest for an individual test section.

Testing Timeline

ETS does not set registration deadlines for the Praxis Core, but spots fill quickly, so we strongly suggest registering as soon as possible. You will receive your scores for the Reading and Math section on screen immediately after the exam. Your official score report with your Writing score will be available via the web 12-17 business days after your test date.

You will be required to submit passing scores to be considered hire-ready by Baltimore City Public Schools.
