Over the past few years, we have had 3 well known Canadian authors visit our schools. We welcomed Shane Peacock, Eric Walters and Christy Jordan-Fenton.
Students learned about the writing process, where to find inspiration and how to share stories about what matters to them.
Students across our board benefit from high quality Science outreach programs such as Scientists in School, Science North and Let's Talk Science. Sessions are led by Scientists and often include hands on kits for students to construct the learning.
Each school has or will have a Makerspace that will offer many tools to support STEM learning including Cricuts, Sewing machines, Beaver Boxes, Lego Robotics kits, Engravers, building materials, Grow Towers, etc.
In 2024-2025, TNCDSB purchased 10 Lego Spike Robotics kits. Students are able to follow robot builds and use block based coding to make their robots complete tasks.
In 2025-2026 TNCDSB purchased Lego Essential kits for each school to support coding for grades 3-6.
Entrepreneuship Programs are being run at some of our schools as clubs or class projects. Student projects are funded by the Ministry of Education. The funds can be used to purchase materials and gain skills and trainings relevant to the business they have created. These programs offer many cross curricular opportunities in math, Science/STEM, art, and language,
