Aloha Second Grade Families,
I can't believe we are already in the 4th quarter! Time has just flown by with this wonderful group. I have been beyond blessed to have the opportunity to get to know each child in our class this year. As we continue the school year, I am reminded of the beautiful words from 1 John 3:1: "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are." This verse is our theme this year, it encapsulates the immense love and value each of us holds to God. Throughout this year, I am eager to witness the learning, growth, and faith blossoming in each student. Every child is unique and precious, and it is my honor to support and nurture their individual gifts and talents to the best of my ability. I deeply appreciate the trust you have placed in me to guide their education and care. Together, let’s make this a fun and fantastic year filled with discovery, joy, and the boundless love of God!
This Week:
We will complete our end of year MAPS testing this week. We willbegin our new vocabulary unit: Westward Expansion. We will also begin our new social studies unit on Japan. In Bible Study we will be learning the stories: Paul at the Areopagus and Paul is Shipwrecked. Teacher for the day lessons will continue, I will let your child know when their lesson is the following day. If your child has supplies they need to bring in for their lesson, you can wait to send them in on their lesson day or you can opt to have them bring them in early.
We are looking for parents to help out with PTT next year. If this is something you are interested in please let me know.

We will complete our Module 6 books this week and will review tricky concepts from the year.

Reminders:
1) Fire Up Crusader Campaign -
We are done to our final hours of the Fire Up Crusader Campaign. This is the very last chance to donate. The site will stop accepting donations at midnight! Oh spread the word to be on the look for a "crabby" Mr. Klemp on Tuesday!
2) Basketball Clinic and Camp
Ellana Klemp, Hawaii D2 girl's basketball player of the year, began her basketball clinics last Tuesday. There are two more clinics each of the next two Tuesdays. You can still sign up for them. Each clinic is $20.
She will also be offering a Basketball camp June 2-June 6 from 8:30-10:00am each day that will focus on competitive skill improvements. This camp is $85 for the week or $20 dollars per day. Any student in grades K-6th are invited to attend. Please email Mr. Klemp, kklemp@tls-hawaii.org with any questions or for more details.
3) Awards Ceremony
Monday, May 19th, at 6pm, the Athletic Department will host our annual awards ceremony. We will honor our Robotics, Yearbook, LJHA, and sports teams. Come support our talented students!
Classroom Needs:
We will be needing drivers with base access (or those willing to get a pass ahead of time) for our beach field trip. I like to use Hickam Beach as it is gentle, small, and has life guards on duty. I am hoping to do the field trip on either May 6th or May 8th. All parents that want to attend are welcome!
