After testing various prototypes we made the following observations:
Due to the geometry of the speaker there was a very limited range of locations where notes could be successfully scored
The geometry of the Speaker, Amp and Trap made it very difficult to design a mechanism that could consistently score in all three in a timely manner
The "squishiness" and geometry of the note made it fairly consistent to score with
One of our core design goals was to reduce the degrees of freedom allowing us to build robust mechanisms that performed in a consistent manner. We decided that a consistent angle for shooting achieved this goal. Two wheels on the sides of the note allowed us to package the shooter effectively and provide a slight spin improving the reliability when scoring.
Motors: 2 Neo Vortex motors on 1:1 gearing.
Wheels: 4" diameter wheels. Two stealth wheels per side and 1 solid urethane wheel per side.
