Accelerated Reader is software for monitoring the practice of reading. It helps children manage their reading and provides teachers with an assessment of their reading ability. Assessment of a student's reading level through the STAR test help teachers and children find the "right leveled" book. Your child will take the STAR test at the end of each quarter. After your child reads a book they can take an AR quiz. The AR link is on the TLCS website and below.
I will set a quarterly goal with your child.
This goal is something they should be working towards each night by reading 20 minutes of an AR book (find books in their reading level and see the amount of points by using arbookfinder.com ) Students have some opportunities to take AR quizzes in class, however they should also be taking quizzes at home too.
