Taiwan Trip Recap
Upon landing in Taiwan, the group quickly boarded a bus to visit the "Chiang Kai-shek Memorial". Students enjoyed a guided tour, where they walked up the steps to the memorial and learned about its significant symbolism and historical context.
The Yearbook Club members captured many moments with photos, which will be uploaded on Monday night.
After exploring the memorial, everyone received their T-shirts and headed out for dinner.
Following dinner, students had the opportunity to visit a local convenience store, which turned out to be a fun experience for all.
Historical Background:
In 1927, during the Japanese era, Yangmingshan was established as Taiwan's first national park, originally known as Datunshan National Park Association.
The park is renowned for its stunning landscapes and the distinct smell of sulfur from its volcanic activity.
Hiking Adventure:
Students embarked on a hike after visiting the Yangmingshan National Park visitor center.
Everyone showed great enthusiasm and did an excellent job on the hike.
Lunch:
After the hike, students enjoyed bento box lunches on the bus.
Reflection Time:
Returned to the hotel for a reflection session, discussing the day’s experiences.
Evening Activities:
Students split into three groups:
Group A: Explored a night market.
Group B: Enjoyed a hot pot dinner.
Group C: Tasted Taiwanese cuisine.
Today we headed to Jifun, where the students began a photo challenge. Jifun is a beautiful area with an interesting history related to gold mining. The students started by looking at various photos and discussing the elements of photography, specifically what makes a good photo compared to a great one.
The students headed out to take some excellent photos please stay tuned for the winner of this challenge.
After taking photos, students ate Lunch and quickly headed out to do some shopping.

After the photo challenge and shopping the students headed over to Shifen where thethey created sky patterns. This was a favorite!

Today Bus 2/ group 2 headed out to Sanxia where the students learnt about blue dye. It was interesting to learn about the the plants that they use, all ingredients are natural and the plants are grown in the mountains. They students asked some great questions and were able to connect this activity to their current science unit Fresh and salt water. They students were also able to context mathematics to the activity through the use of patterns, and Fibonnacci sequece, with my help.

Uncovering the final product
After our Blue dye activity we headed for lunch where 1 student at each table hand the opportunity to be a chicken 🐔 master.
Who knew pulling apart a chick could be this enjoyable?
We are now on the bus heading to San Domingo where the students will be participating in a historical scavenger hunt. Students are tired, many are sleeping on the bus.

Night Market
This morning bus 2 headed to the Tamsui to make fish balls. The students headed upstairs to learn about the history of the shop, and the fising industry that is run by the family. After they learned about the history, they headed over to the next room, where they all learned how to make the fish balls. Once they finished forming the fish balls, they headed back to watch a video.
After the video, all the students enjoyed eating their fish balls and soup. They also had an opportunity to buy some snacks from the store.
Today for lunch we had the opportunity to walk the old street, and some students enjoyed eating Turkish ice cream.
