Meet Our School Counselor
Hello! My name is Katie Zimmerman, and I am proud to serve as the school counselor at Munford Middle School. I bring over a decade of experience in education, including twelve years as a classroom teacher. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Memphis in 2011, and later pursued my passion for school counseling by completing a Master of Science in Education in Professional School Counseling with a focus on Crisis and Trauma through Arkansas State University. I am a licensed school counselor in Tennessee.
My career began with Shelby County Schools, where I spent ten years in various classroom settings before joining Tipton County Schools. As a Tipton County resident for nearly 20 years, it is truly rewarding to support the students and families in the community I call home.
In addition to teaching, I’ve served in several leadership roles, including grade chair, instructional leadership team member, K–5 math content lead, and member of the district’s math textbook adoption committee. I also previously served as the school counselor at Atoka Elementary and as PTO President.
My counseling work focuses on supporting students’ social/emotional, behavioral, and academic development. I believe in a whole-child approach and value strong collaboration with families to ensure every student has the tools and support needed to succeed.
I’m an active member of both the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the Tennessee School Counselor Association (TSCA), and I’m committed to ongoing professional growth.
If I can be of assistance, please feel free to reach out—email is the best way to contact me. I look forward to working with you and supporting your child throughout their middle school journey.
