• Write and decode CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words

• Count syllables in words

• Apply grade level phonics and decoding skills while reading text

• Understand the directionality of print and use 1:1 matching

• Use phonetic spelling when writing

• Demonstrates an understanding of initial capitalization, end punctuation, and spacing between sentences

• Sound out and write three or more sentences.
