Professional Growth at The Tilian Partnership
At The Tilian Partnership, our Professional Growth Strategy is an essential component of our Improving Educational Outcomes Strategy. It serves as a mechanism through which we ensure that high-quality teaching is the standard for all students. We firmly believe that every teacher, regardless of experience, has the potential to enhance their skills and effectiveness through continuous professional development. This document outlines our unwavering dedication to providing all staff within our Trust and its schools with the necessary support and resources for ongoing growth and improvement.
Our Commitment to Professional Learning
Evidence-Based Opportunities: We are committed to offering evidence-based opportunities that both support and challenge our professional practise.
Focused Learning Communities: Staff are encouraged to actively engage in a variety of professional learning activities to refine their personal practise. Our focused learning communities provide targeted opportunities for reflexion, consolidation, and enrichment of knowledge, encompassing both pedagogical and subject-specific areas.
Needs-Led Training: Our training evolves based on identified needs, with key principles and active ingredients guiding the development of practical classroom behaviours, tools, and strategies that lead to sustainable positive outcomes in teaching and learning.
Accountability: Every member of our team is accountable for ensuring the best possible outcomes for our children. In cases where concerns arise regarding individual progress, personalised support plans may be implemented.
We are dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth, where professional learning is valued and prioritised. By investing in the development of our staff, we are investing in the success and well-being of our children.

Bespoke Professional Growth Offer
A personalised, high‑impact development opportunity for teachers who wish to refine a specific aspect of their practice. This may be a self‑identified need or an area highlighted through monitoring.
A structured, supportive learning cycle designed to strengthen classroom practice and deepen understanding of effective teaching through the (T)EACH Framework.
Teachers identify a key area of practice they wish to refine. This could relate to:
Task design
Explanation and modelling
Adaptive teaching
Checking for understanding
High‑quality practice routines
A short request is submitted to Clare outlining the chosen focus.
(T)EACH lead arranges an observation of a teacher who demonstrates strong practice in the identified area. The visiting teacher observes alongside the (T)EACH LEAD, focusing on:
Key features of effective practice
Links to the (T)EACH Framework
Impact on pupils
A structured conversation follows, led by (T)EACH LEAD, exploring:
What made the practice effective
How the teacher anticipated and prepared for the lesson
Key decisions and their rationale
What worked well, why, and what could be refined
The observed teacher joins the discussion to share their planning, thinking and reflections.
The visiting teacher identifies one actionable refinement, then:
Plans the action
Rehearses it with (T)EACH LEAD
Receives coaching and refinement
Implements it back in their own classroom
(T) LEAD then visits the teacher’s school to observe the improvement, with the HT also present.
All learning, actions, feedback and pupil impact are recorded in the Professional Growth Record, ensuring:
