A recent timber harvest by Eversource and the Waterbury Water Company has created an exciting opportunity for THS. Many trees were recently removed to facilitate electrical grid improvements and water supply security. Although the vast majority of the wood harvested is destined for sawmills in Canada, enough has been donated to the School to make this project possible. Today LEED certified buildings are encouraged to source all building materials from within a 100 mile radius; our materials originated 3 miles away!
Next steps include...
Milling the timbers into posts and beams, by Arbor services of CT
Executing timber framing best practices, by THS Science Club students
