Carpool

ARRIVAL - Morning Carpool and Drop Off (7:30 A.M. - 8:00 A.M.)

  • Carpool will take place at the front of the High School located at 13051 Whittington Drive and the carpool entrance is the second gate on the left hand side (Gate #1) going West on Whittington. Vehicles entering for carpool should proceed through the parking lot and wrap around to the front of the High School building for drop off.

  • Parents/guardians will pull up to the designated drop off location in front of the High School main building, as directed. Parents/guardians should remain in their vehicle.

  • Students are required to enter the campus via the gate (Gate “B”) by the school patio.

  • Students are expected to keep a safe physical distance while waiting to enter campus at the gate.

  • Staff members on duty will check the students' temperature near the entrance of the gate. This will include testing any Middle School students who are dropped off at the High School campus.

  • If student temperature is over 37.5℃ / 99.5 F, then the student may not enter campus and will return home.

  • Students will sanitize hands when passing through the gate.

  • Students should proceed directly to their first class between 7:30 - 7:40 when the supervising teacher announces that students should report to their class.

  • An Officer will direct you as you exit the circular drive to assist in keeping traffic flow moving.

DISMISSAL - Afternoon Carpool and Pick Up (Starting at 3:30 P.M./2:30 P.M. on Wednesdays)

  • Students should wait at a safe physical distance at the picnic tables outside on the patio until their parent is at the appropriate pick-up area.

  • Parents/guardians are asked to text/call their child to inform them of their arrival.

High School Student Parking: High School Seniors and Juniors who drive to school are required to park in the student lot on the Whittington campus and must have a proper parking pass sticker on their vehicle. They may enter the parking lot beginning at 7:10 A.M. along with carpool and park in designated student parking only.

Classrooms

  • Each student is responsible for bringing their own supplies to each class. Sharing of materials is not permitted.

  • Student seating will be spaced apart to allow safe physical distancing. Desks will be oriented in the same direction, where possible.

  • Plexiglass dividers will be present in certain areas to enhance student safety, especially in areas where being physical distant is more difficult.

  • Movement in the classroom will be limited during classes.

  • Direct group work will be limited as much as possible. Alternatives, such as teacher demonstrations, computer simulations, or online activities, will be utilized.

  • Students are encouraged to bring their own art supplies and/or musical instruments, if possible. If using school provided materials, teachers will direct the required cleaning procedures for each class.

  • Dance, Drama, and PE will follow appropriate safe physical distancing guidelines.

  • Each classroom will be cleaned and sanitized at the end of each class.

Lockers

  • Lockers will not be used to start the school year. Students will carry their belongings with them from class to class. This policy will be updated if the health and safety situation changes at any point throughout the year.

Circulation Around School

  • Staff members will monitor hallways to ensure students are not congregating and are practicing safe physical distancing.

  • Students should not go to the restroom when transitioning between classes. They first need to go to the next class before getting permission.

  • Backpacks and other bags are to be safely placed in the classroom as directed by the teacher.

  • No congregating in courtyards.

Main building:

  • Students are to go straight to the next class, following the directional flow outlined for each floor.

  • In general, students should stay to the right in the hallway.

  • Staircase A is up only; staircases B & C are down only.

Champions Hall:

  • Students are to go straight to the next class, following the directional flow outlined for each floor.

  • 1st floor: students/staff members enter through the door closest to the High School main building, with one way flow from this door. Exit is through the double doors by the study hall room.

  • 2nd floor: students/staff members enter through the door closest to the High School main building, with one way flow from this door. Exit is through the door at the other end of the building.

VAC:

  • Entry is through the door closest to the Residential Life building and exit is through the door closest to the car park.

  • To access the 2nd floor, the staircase next to the entry door is up only. The staircase next to the exit door is down only.

Lunch

  • Students will wash or sanitize their hands before and after lunch.

  • Staggered lunch breaks will help to minimize student interaction in the cafeteria and eating areas.

  • Students are only permitted to use their own water bottles.

  • Students and staff will enter and exit the cafeteria and eating areas according to indicated directions.

  • Students and staff will wait at indicated safe physical distances when lined up for food service and move in indicated directions.

  • Multiple areas will be available for eating break times, with both inside and outside options (weather dependent).

  • Seating will be at safe physical distances, and when not available, plexiglass dividers will be present.

  • Students will eat independently in their own area. Sharing of food and drinks is not permitted.

  • Masks should only be removed immediately before eating and put back on immediately after eating.

  • When inclement weather impacts outside seating, students who bring their lunch will eat in classrooms.

  • Areas used by students or staff members will be thoroughly cleaned after use by each group.

Fall Trips

  • Fall trips and excursions are postponed until further notice and the school will explore virtual experiences until travel and visits are deemed safe.

Toilet Facilities

  • Unless an emergency occurs, students must get permission from the teacher during class time and not go to the restroom during transition from class to class.

  • Restroom occupancy will be limited to the number of sinks available.

  • Safety signs will be posted in every restroom.

  • Hands must be washed before leaving the restroom.

  • During passing periods, a teacher will be on duty in the hallway who will help to monitor numbers entering the restrooms.
