This monochrome stamp, with a denomination of 60 paisa, was issued by the Department of Posts (Government of India), to honour Krishnaji on his 92nd birth anniversary on May 11, 1987.
We would like to thank Anantha Swamy uncle for sharing this.
Anyone who has spent at least a year at The Valley knows the delight of flipping through the pages of the school’s annual magazine—Rta. But, not a lot of us know its history. Rta was the brainchild of the then Kannada teacher—Pavagada Prakash Rao. It began as a monthly magazine first published, perhaps, in 1984. Students and teachers contributed articles on diverse subjects. These articles were typed on a typewriter in the school office—no computers, no delete or undo buttons! If there was a minor mistake, one had to use correction fluid to rectify; in cases of major mistakes, the entire page had to be retyped! Then came the artwork—which was drawn on the typed sheets, and then sent to the printers.
The Valley was only six years old then; still a small, young and developing school—unable to fund a monthly magazine. So, parents took turns—month after month, to sponsor it. The Rta flourished because of this collaborative spirit—of teachers, students and parents.
