At the 34th Annual Children’s Moon Festival, The Togetherness Project helped bring the community together through the power of youth-led service. By mobilizing more than 150 volunteers, our organization helped support a large-scale community celebration while contributing to approximately $35,000 in donations raised. We also helped spread the joy of the festival by distributing $1,000 worth of free toys and lanterns to children and families. Through this initiative, The Togetherness Project demonstrated how collective action can transform a community event into an opportunity for meaningful service, generosity, and connection. Our involvement reflected our commitment to creating accessible volunteer opportunities for young people while ensuring that families could celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories together.
Through our Santa’s Workshop Toy Drive, The Togetherness Project helped bring holiday joy to more than 200 families in need, partnering with CityTeam San Jose to distribute toys and support families through the CityTeam warehouse. To make the initiative possible, we established donation bins at multiple locations throughout San Jose, encouraging community members to contribute gifts and participate in the spirit of giving. By mobilizing local support and making donations more accessible, we helped turn individual acts of generosity into a collective effort to make the holiday season brighter for families facing hardship. This initiative reflects our commitment to community-driven service and our belief that, when people come together with a shared purpose, even small contributions can make a meaningful difference.
The Winter Wishes Celebration was a community event organized by The Togetherness Project to celebrate the success of our Santa’s Workshop Toy Drive and extend its impact to local families. In collaboration with Guadalupe River Park, we hosted a celebration centered on generosity, community connection, and the joy of giving, distributing free toys to children and families. Behind the scenes, our team navigated the extensive planning and administrative work required to bring a public event to life, from coordinating logistics and completing necessary paperwork to contacting vendors and food trucks through our outreach team. Although organizing the celebration presented significant challenges, it became one of our most valuable learning experiences, teaching us firsthand the complexity of public event planning, partnership coordination, and community outreach. Winter Wishes represented more than the culmination of a successful toy drive; it was an opportunity for our team to grow as leaders, strengthen our organizational skills, and discover what it truly takes to turn a community-centered vision into reality.
The 35th Annual Children’s Moon Festival marked a significant milestone in The Togetherness Project’s continued growth, bringing together more than 200 volunteers and helping raise approximately $40,000 in donations. Through improved event coordination, stronger volunteer engagement, and more streamlined operations, our team delivered a more organized and impactful community experience. We provided free toys, games, and lanterns to help families celebrate while fostering a welcoming environment for children and community members. With an expanding base of dedicated, returning volunteers, this event reflected not only our growing reach but also our progress in building a more structured, sustainable, and connected organization.
We are currently working with Inclusive World to pair high school volunteers with special needs students in order to both enrich the learning experiences of our special needs youth and to expose our high school population to a diverse range of people.
At this moment, we are working alongside the California Brain Injury Association to put together an arts-based program initiated by high school students as a way to aid the recovery of traumatic brain injury survivors.
In 2027, The Togetherness Project will launch global chapter applications, expanding our mission to students around the world. We strive to ensure that every student, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to discover their passions, serve their communities, and find their place in a world that often seems so certain of who we should become. Through a global network of young changemakers, we hope to turn that vision into reality.
