Founded by Katie Nguyen, The Togetherness Project began with a simple belief: everyone deserves the opportunity to make a difference and find where they belong. After graduating high school at just 16, Katie dedicated herself to rapidly expanding the organization, transforming an initial vision into a growing movement that continues to reach new communities today. Having experienced firsthand how competitive the race to build extracurricular experience and secure meaningful opportunities can be, she recognized a need for something different—a space where young people could discover their passions, contribute to causes they care about, and find purpose beyond the pressure to stand out. Rather than allowing community involvement to become another competition, Katie envisioned an organization that makes service more accessible, meaningful, and inclusive. That vision continues to shape The Togetherness Project as it expands its reach and creates new opportunities for young changemakers. No matter who you are, where you come from, or who you aspire to become, there will always be a place for you at The Togetherness Project.

Our vision is to build a global network of nonprofit organizations, community partners, and young changemakers united by a shared commitment to service. We aspire to collaborate with nonprofits worldwide to connect students with meaningful volunteer opportunities that let them explore their interests, discover their passions, build new skills, and find their place in their communities. We believe volunteering should be more than a résumé builder; it should let young people discover what matters to them, understand the world beyond their immediate experiences, and recognize their potential to make a difference. By breaking down barriers to community involvement and expanding access to service opportunities across borders, we hope to create a world where every student, regardless of their background or aspirations, has the chance to learn, lead, and grow through giving back. Ultimately, we envision The Togetherness Project becoming a global community where connections inspire action, passions become purpose, and small acts of service contribute to lasting, meaningful change.
