Walks and Hikes

Fall walks are good for a person’s soul. Whether it’s just a simple walk with the dog or a longer hike with friends. On one small hike with my family and dog, I noticed tall pine trees sharing the forest with birch trees and some other trees that I couldn’t identify. On this particular hike, my mom and I started after my dad, my brother, and our dog. After a few yards, we noticed this interesting reishi fungus that had a vibrant orange-red color. I discovered that this fungus is an ingredient that can be used for medicine to help with boosting the immune system. Farther up the path we were able to see other fungi and we found my dad who was taking pictures of my brother. Now that the family was together we continued on with the hike. The path was rocky, and surrounded by trees. The reishi mushroom was on many of the trees that we passed. We stumbled upon an open spot between the trees with an exposed ledge. From the ledge view, we could see the lake and the different leaves of all the trees. I could hear the leaves rustling, and I could hear the small animals moving from one place to the other. It was a place that I could relax for a while and just sit and watch the trees and listen to the wind. After the hike, we learned about a path that could lead us to a waterfall. We wanted to see the waterfall but we didn't have enough time this day. This walk was nice. It was a chance for my family to escape from reality for a while. Feeling that we don’t have to worry about what’s happening with the world. We all relaxed for a while including our dog. It was a nice experience.
