The evening was stunning. The sun was setting behind a storm cloud, but its light made the whole world blue and gold. A White Throated Sparrow sang in the distance and the wind was warm. It was the height of summer, and it had been hot and humid all day, almost as if nature was preparing for the storm that night. This pre-storm moment in the evening was so unbearably perfect. There was so much to admire it was hard to look away to snap a photo. A photo can never capture the magnificence of these moments of serenity and beauty. The crickets started to chirp as if they knew what was coming and I could smell the rain coming closer as the wind suddenly died down. I wondered to myself, is this what they call the silence before the storm. It was like the clouds were waiting for approval before letting loose on the world. This silence was suspenseful and filled me with every type of emotion, almost as full as the cloud that was now over us.
After a few more moments of overwhelming yet beautiful silence, deafening thunder rolled above us followed by the rain. A solid, silvery sheet fell all around us. I almost expected the rain to hurt as it hit my skin, but with the heat of the day the rain was refreshing, yet warm. The next thing we did was dance. The fear of lightning was behind us and pure freedom was felt while dancing in the rain.
