Today there was a lot of heavy rainfall, and by the time I got down to my stream the rain had turned up sediment and dirt making it brown. The water was also significantly higher and stronger. I walked along the bank carefully and noticed the frogs were all along the edge, but no other wildlife was spotted. The sky was covered by clouds and it was still sprinkling, so the entire stream was shaded. The conductivity test showed significantly different results at 116 in the very strong currents and 136 in the faster moving water. The pH was slightly more acidic as well, likely because of the rain. The temperature wasn't that different from other days, at 16.7 degrees Celsius. After filling out my data sheet with this information and calculating the averages, it was clear that some had been impacted by the sudden change in whether, especially the conductivity. Overall the average for pH was 6.5, the average for conductivity was 217.3 and the average for temperature was 16.1 degrees Celsius. For my soil sample test, I chose 5 different spots around my property- one next to my house, next to my garage, one in front of my garage, under my porch and in front of our wood shed. Today was also the day that I checked my e. coli sample. I counted 8 total colonies, and because the solution was diluted, I multiplied it by ten and came out with 80.
