Today I spent my time at the stream collecting macroinvertebrates. I collected a total of 212, although there were still many more left in the container, most of them being really small stoneflies. During my time at the stream I came across two frogs sitting on a rock, as well as several other frogs that hopped into the stream as I walked along the bank. The water way mostly calm, and I noticed that certain parts of the stream were even more exposed than yesterday. While collecting macroinvertebrates, I also caught a really small salamander. It took me a while to identify some of the macroinvertebrates, specifically the mayflies. Most of the mayflies I found were flat-headed mayflies with only two tails, which I at first confused with stoneflies. I ended up coming out with 163 stoneflies, but it was really hard to see what the really tiny ones looked like, so I could have possibly gotten some of them mixed up. The pH, conductivity and temperature tests produced similar results to the ones yesterday, as the pH was around 6.8 - 7, the conductivity at 260 and the temperature around 15.7 degrees Celsius.
